Full Job Description

We are looking to appoint a Personal Assistant to the Head of the School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE). The Personal Assistant will manage the Head of School's administrative office and provide direct administrative support to the Head of School, taking responsibility for a range of processes. They will also support the Head of Administration and Finance in some administrative responsibilities.
This position requires a keen awareness of administrative best practice and excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective communication at all levels within the University (senior officers, faculty, students, staff) as well as with external agencies. It is important that the Personal Assistant can work within a cross-functional team and can function in a fast-moving environment. At all times the Personal Assistant must demonstrate good judgment and discretion in carrying out their responsibilities.

The Personal Assistant will have the ability to work under pressure and to multiple deadlines. There will be occasions when the post holder will have to manage competing priorities, and use initiative in setting their own objectives whilst maintaining discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
This position requires an individual with demonstrable experience of personal assistant work for senior executives in a busy and pressurised office, including complex diary management, organising meetings and making travel arrangements. The Personal Assistant will require excellent communication skills, face-to-face and over the telephone, with a strong orientation towards customer service with a high standard of literacy and writing skills, including accuracy and attention to detail. They should also be committed to ensuring Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
