Full Job Description

I am the employer and mother to my son, who has a diagnosis of Autism. He has severe learning difficulties and requires 2-1 staff support in order to ensure his safety and manage any challenging behaviour he may demonstrate. I am seeking PA support to enable my son to access the community, engage in activities he enjoys and allow some independence. My son is very energetic and so anyone applying should be fit, with a willing to be involved in the activities. People with a good sense of humour and playful nature.

My son is extremely sensory led, so he enjoys physical contact, tight hugs, massages and enjoys his sensory brush being used across his body. This helps minimise times of stress or tension. He requires support with cutting up his food or managing some utensils when eating. Prompt with personal care, reminding him to wash hands etc: and may at times require assistance with toileting. My son needs to be prepared for any activities he may be involved in and so anyone working with him should be good at planning and offering consistency when communicating with him. Giving basic instructions and planning ahead.

  • About the Role

    Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.

  • Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.

  • Support to get to and from school/work/college/social activities.

  • Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.

  • Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.

  • Promote and encourage friendships and independence.

  • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.


  • The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

    You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

    Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

    Transport Requirement:

    Car driver and car owner - must have business insurance.

    Hours per week: 2 PA's @ 10 hours per week (52 weeks per year) at a level of 2:1 staffing. Hours delivered flexibly across weekends
