About the Employer Personal Assistant required to support a gentleman with Downs Syndrome and Alzheimer's continue to live in his flat. The personal assistant will support him with all aspects of his personal care and daily living. There are four other assistants and we work as a team providing him with this level of support 24 hours a day. The personal assistant will need to be familiar with moving and handling as his mobility varies and also with dementia which is now moderate. He still knows his regular personal assistants.   • Mobility / Physical Hearing Cognitive / Learning Mental Health
  • And Downs Syndrome, Alzheimer's, Mobility Issues, Epilepsy, Gout, Acid Stomach, Vasovegal Syncope, Low Sodium (liquid restricted to 1.5l per day), Dermatitis, incontinence. The employer's hobbies and interests:
  • Watching familiar DVD's especially Laurel and Hardy. People Watching and having social interaction. Seeing my family. Swimming, Trampolining, familiar Music. Food and particularly. Going out for hot chocolate/milkshake and cake.
  • About the Role Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
  • Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
  • Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
  • Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
  • Support and/or prompt to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors.
  • Support with food shopping.
  • Support to get to and from school/work/college/social activities.
  • Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
  • Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
  • Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
  • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
  • Only candidates aged 18 or over should apply for this position as you will be required to administer medication. The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required. You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times. Transport Requirement Full driving licence is essential as the role requires you to drive the employer's vehicle (employer to check age requirement with car insurance provider).

  • Moving and Handling. PA must already hold relevant qualification. First Aid. PA must already hold relevant qualification. Epilepsy. Training will be provided by the employer. When you are Required Specific days/times required:
  • Monday, 7.00 - 14.30
  • Wednesday, 7.00-14.30
  • Thursday, 14.30-22.00 plus sleep-in, every two weeks.
  • Friday, 7.00-14.30
  • Saturday, 14.30-22.00 plus sleep-in once a month
  • Sunday, 7.00-14.30 once a month.
  • Dates and times are flexible and can be discussed at interview. This position will require:
  • Sleep-ins
  • Shift work
  • Hourly Rate of pay: £14.50 per hour. £ 102.96 sleep-in allowance Hours per week: 22.5 - 30 hours per week. A sleep-in every other week on a Thursday and one Weekend per month ie Saturday 14.30 - 22.00, plus sleep-in, Sunday 7.00 - 14.30.
