Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Lawyer (solicitor or legal executive) to manage a caseload of multi-track (MT) personal injury and/or disease cases, as well as more complex non-portal fast track (FT) work.

Our lawyers make daily decisions involving considerable judgment, subject to supervision, applying their knowledge of personal injury law, Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), rules on evidence, litigation processes, and funding. As well as assessing and advising on evidence, liability, and quantum, they play a crucial role in the team, helping to achieve team objectives with a focus on client care.

We are looking for qualified solicitors and legal executives with experience in personal injury claims. As well as strong and empathetic communicators we are keen to hear from lawyers with a sound theoretical knowledge of personal injury law who thrive in a team environment and enjoy guiding and advising junior team members.

Thompsons Solicitors was first established in 1921 by founder and leading civil rights lawyer, W. H. Thompson. Driven by a vision to protect and deliver justice for working people, his aspiration led Thompsons Solicitors to establish itself as the most experienced personal injury law firm in the UK.

For over 90 years, Thompsons Solicitors has helped injured people to secure hundreds of millions of pounds in compensation. Our team of committed personal injury specialists have decades of experience running, and winning, personal injury claims, workplace accident claims, road crash claims, medical negligence claims, industrial disease claims and asbestos claims.

Thompsons Solicitors is fully regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and our personal injury and medical negligence lawyers are accredited by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), and Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA). Our team's empathy and legal skill are regularly recognised by leading legal industry guides, including Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500, and we retain high levels of client satisfaction.

Providing an exceptional legal service to clients during the exceptional circumstances which follow a personal injury or medical accident, an accident at work or industrial disease diagnosis is Thompsons Solicitors' top priority. This includes highly-trained and friendly teams who invest their specialist expertise into every claim, as well as close links with leading charities and support groups who help families to access additional support and services.

Unlike other personal injury law firms, Thompsons Solicitors is 100 per cent committed to claimant only work: that means that we only ever represent the injured or mistreated person, and never the people, organisations or insurance companies liable for paying out for those injuries. You can learn more about this unique commitment and the benefits it holds for our clients by reading Our Pledge.

Minimising any stress and ensuring there is no financial risk to clients of making a personal injury claim is an important element of our service. Thompsons Solicitors prides itself on securing the maximum amount of personal injury compensation in the shortest possible time; keeping our clients fully informed about every stage of their case, and being open and transparent about how much personal injury compensation clients are likely to secure - putting you in control of your case.

In return, we offer an exciting benefits package:

  • Contributory pension scheme

  • £4,000 Car Allowance

  • Permanent health insurance

  • Healthcare Cash Plan (Medicash)

  • Life assurance

  • 25 days annual leave (in addition to bank holidays)

  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay

  • Cycle to work scheme

  • Subsidised sports and social club

  • Annual travel and parking loans
