Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced senior PET-CT radiographer /technologist to join our PET-CT department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. This is great opportunity to join a state-of-art department in a modern hospital building. With an extensive knowledge of PET-CT you will help develop and manage the service and team within a specified budget. You will be responsible for ensuring a high-quality scanning service and for meeting targets. You will be supported by a PET-CT Superintendent, consultants, dedicated physics, and admin staff., As the deputy you will work closely with the PET-CT Superintendent to help drive transformation as well as ensuring effective day-to-day operational management of the service. You are expected to have experience in supervising and training staff as well as extensive clinical knowledge. You will be a credible and visible leader and will work cooperatively as part of a large MDT. You will need to be resourceful and innovative to ensure that the PET-CT service delivers prompt and timely care to our patients, as well as maintaining good relationships with our external partners.
You will need to manage capacity and patient flow and maintain regular dialogue with the administrative service. You will ensure quality assurance, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance are in place. You will be trained to be an RPS for the area and will be expected to facilitate departmental research. You may be required to work at other Trust sites and to ensure any satellite units are performing as expected. The service will initially run Monday-Friday 8am - 8pm but will expand to encompass weekends as the service develops.
In return for your commitment to us, we will provide ongoing support for your professional development, as well as a friendly, challenging and stimulating work environment., To support the PET-CT Superintendent, Lead PET-CT Consultant, and Lead Superintendent Radiographer and oversee operations within the PET-CT department, and to work collaboratively with staff to provide effective day-to-day operational management.
The post holder will be required to work with minimal supervision and be responsible for performing a wide range of examinations and procedures to a high standard on patients of all ages. They will ensure patients are efficiently booked and that equipment, consumables, and staffing resources are utilised effectively, whilst reviewing demand and capacity on a regular basis.
The post holder will undertake clinical work in a highly specialised area which requires consideration of the risks of radiation and cross infection. The person needs to possess the empathy and skills to help patients through difficult and complex procedures. This will include supervision, training and allocation of the workload for other technologists/radiographers ensuring the highest quality of patient care.
The post holder will be required to perform processing and produce results to the highest technical standards. They will work collaboratively to ensure all staff within the department have the correct training and are competent for their roles.
To work within regulatory controls and rules and ensure a safe working environment in accordance with local rules for radiation protection and Health and Safety.
