Full Job Description

We are seeking a qualified PFD Operator at our Filton site to undertake non-destructive testing & penetrant processing inspection of components to identify surface defects. The successful individual will be required to work on both manual and automated penetrant testing lines as part of a team of 8 PFD Operators and need to be flexible as the role will involve working shifts. How You Will Contribute

  • Accountable for recording value stream tasks within the site Risk Assessment Management tool with the risks being accurately recorded and controls put in place to help reduce the risk
  • Ensure parts are produced on a 'right first time' basis
  • Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
  • Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
  • Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
  • Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
  • Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
  • To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
  • Performing the tasks, learning, understanding and working to the governing specifications
  • Ensure compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities. Report all incidents, accidents and near misses as per the company's procedure and implementation of identified corrective actions. Maintain good standards of housekeeping in designated work area(s)
  • Champion 'Export Control' compliance activities, ensuring adherence to the site 'Technology Control Plan (TCP)', guaranteeing compliance with Export Control Regulations, controls, training and systems

    Penetrant testing for EN 4179 Level 2 as a minimum
  • Comfortable working as part of a team toward a common objective
  • In addition to this, it would be beneficial if you have:
  • Previous manufacturing experience in a factory environment
  • knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives
  • A background in mechanical/aerospace industry
