An exciting opportunity has arisen for a pharmacist to undertake a non-rotational role in the outpatient dispensary at the Western Eye Hospital. The post holder will be working closely with a second pharmacist and senior technician to manage the pharmacy services provided. The Western Eye (WEH) pharmacist team has been expanded to support the team and service needs. This expansion will enrich the care to our patients by expanding the pharmacist's general clinical pharmacy skills, through practical application on the wards and the department, but also through completion of a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical pharmacy. The Western Eye hospital is located in west London on the Marylebone Road. The hospital has undergone major restructuring to allow the return of intensive surgery to the site. As a centre of research and teaching excellence, the ophthalmology team welcome pharmacy support to deliver outstanding ophthalmic and pharmacy services for our patients. With these developments there is no better time to join us! All successful candidates will be enrolled in a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice course. The post holder will be expected to work towards the completion of a diploma in clinical pharmacy, whilst contributing to the clinical pharmacy service, out of hours working which includes evenings at WEH and weekend work on the main site at St Mary's hospital. The aim of the training for the band 6 pharmacists at ICHT is to build on previous skills learned through working in other sectors, or gained through the trainee pharmacist year, to provide an efficient, safe and patient focussed, hospital pharmacy service. This will concentrate on the key competencies required by independent learning alongside a formal postgraduate training programme. The course will encompass the development of communication and consultation skills, medicines optimisation, decision making and research skills alongside the acquisition of knowledge in a broad range of medical conditions. It will equip the pharmacist with the confidence, ability and knowledge of medicines use, while instilling the Trust values.
