Full Job Description

The main purpose of this role is to perform general pharmaceutical duties under the supervision of the Dispensary Manager (or nominated supervisor), in line with current policies and procedures.

  • To receive, dispense, hand out prescriptions and provide other support services to the Pharmacy department, including the receipt of orders and the supply of medicines to wards and departments.
  • To support the pharmacy purchasing and distribution service.
  • To carry out basic pharmacy duties and assist in the provision of a high quality, patient orientated service.
  • To support and where possible contribute to pharmacy audit and effectiveness activities across the trust.
  • To provide an efficient administration service within the Pharmacy department

    An opportunity has arisen to join our motivated, friendly and forward thinking team supporting the supply of medicines from our Kingfisher Court Pharmacy Department.
  • We are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic about improving the lives of those living with mental health issues. Previous experience in pharmacy is not required, as you will be provided with competency based training and support to help you expand on your knowledge and experience. Applicants should have a qualification equivalent to the NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services/Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship. No prior pharmacy experience is needed as applicants without qualification will be given full training. Applicants without qualification will be initially employed as a band 2, which will increase to a band 3 at the completion of training. As this is a funded progression post, the Agenda for Change pay band will be discussed at interview and will be determined accordingly and proof of qualifications and education will be required., · Pharmacy stock control experience · Ability to take, evaluate and act on messages, or pass on to appropriate staff · Good communication skills - oral and written · Ability to demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, numeracy / calculations skills · Good time management skills · Ability to work in a busy environment and meet deadlines · Ability to organise and prioritise workload · Ability to follow departmental and Trust procedures · Able to travel using own vehicle to various Trust sites and other locations across Hertfordshire.
  • Car driver (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving)
  • · The job will require frequent use of VDU equipment every day and intense concentration in a sometimes-noisy open plan dispensary environment. · The post holder may encounter challenging/hostile service users when visiting the mental health units. Regular requirement to deal with distressing or emotionally charged situations.,
  • NVQ level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) or willingness to complete within one year of course induction day.
  • 5 GCSEs including Maths and English, Grade C or above or 4/5 (or equivalent), Computer literate including Microsoft Office package, internet, intranet and other IT systems
  • Dealing with customers
  • Using computer systems for stock control
  • Experience of working under pressure
  • Desirable criteria
  • Hospital pharmacy experience, Good communication skills - oral and written
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work in a busy environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, numeracy / calculations skills
