Full Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for a person interested in a little-known area of Pharmacy. We are a busy Aseptic/Technical Services Unit based within the Pharmacy Department at York Hospital. We are a service that supplies and prepares bespoke intravenous products, such as chemotherapy, to both in-patients and out-patients throughout the Trust. Whilst we buy in some "Ready to Administer" preparations much of our work is based within an Aseptic cleanroom facility where we prepare many products such as chemotherapy, Monoclonal Antibodies (MABs), and other injectable products, in-house. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a service that works very hard behind the scenes to ensure that patients receive the very best treatment. The team are friendly and hardworking and proud of their contribution to patient care., Suitable candidates would be required to work within the cleanroom environment where duties are interesting and varied. Duties range from maintaining and monitoring the cleanroom environment, stock management of drugs and consumable items and assisting the production staff with the making and distribution of products. We are looking for a conscientious individual who will take a methodical approach to a task and who appreciates the importance of following procedures. The aseptic unit is a sterile, clean room environment where preparation of pharmaceutical products takes place.

  • You will be required to participate in the decontamination and disinfection of the aseptic unit.
  • You will also undertake some environmental monitoring duties which are essential in ensuring that the environment remains in a controlled state.
  • There are also administration tasks to undertake as well as stock management activities such as stock checks, receipt of stock and expiry date checks.

    Accuracy and attention to detail is essential for this position as is a passion for patient care, quality, and improvement. Full training will be provided and you will be given the opportunity to undertake further qualifications. Applicants must also hold GCSE's in maths and English language (or equivalent) at Grades C/4 or above.
