Full Job Description

Are you interested in a varied role which has ensuring patients experience the best pharmaceutical care at its heart? We are looking for an enthusiastic committed individual to work as a key part of the pharmacy team, working alongside staff in the main Pharmacy Dispensary, the Pharmacy Aseptic Supply Unit and the Day Treatment Unit (DTU).

This role involves co-ordinating prescriptions for patients in the Day Treatment Unit (DTU) working with the multidisciplinary team and managing the pharmacy side of the patient appointment diary. This will include liaising with the clinical pharmacists to ensure timely clinical screening of DTU and prescriptions from other outpatient / virtual clinics. The role will also include managing the dispensing of all DTU, OPAT (outpatient antimicrobial therapy) and other day-case prescriptions in collaboration with the Deputy Dispensary Managers., Co-ordinate prescriptions for patients in the Day Treatment Unit (DTU) working with the multidisciplinary team and managing the pharmacy side of the patient appointment diary

Liaise with the clinical pharmacists to ensure timely clinical screening of DTU and prescriptions from other outpatient / virtual clinics

Manage the dispensing of all DTU, OPAT (outpatient antimicrobial therapy) and other day-case prescriptions in collaboration with the Deputy Dispensary Managers

Support medication safety work streams within the Pharmacy Aseptic Supply Unit (ASU)

Provide administrative support to the ASU team in coordinating prescription for patients treated on the chemotherapy unit

Support with management of stock for OPAT and day case treatments including mitigating medicines due to expire and those of high cost

Participate in activities associated with the supply of chemotherapy and aseptically prepared products as required

Act as the point of contact for all DTU, chemotherapy and other day case enquires using experience to mitigate issues or escalate to the appropriate person

If you are interested in this post you will need previous experience of working in either a hospital or community pharmacy and have a minimum of NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy services or equivalent.

You must be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for trying new roles and delivering an excellent patient experience.
