An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to join the department in the role of Pharmacy Stores Manager (as maternity cover). Leading a team, you will be responsible for ensuring medicines are procured, stored and distributed efficiently and effectively. You will need to demonstrate excellent organisation and communication skills, be self-motivated and able to manage and supervise a team of staff to ensure continued excellent service provision. Applicants will need to have experience of stock management and IT systems. This is a fixed term post for 1 year, but experience you will gain will be invaluable for future roles. To ensure the day-to-day procurement and supply is robust to ensure medicines are available in clinical areas To liaise with wholesalers and manufacturers to ensure out of stock medicines are mitigated effectively Ensure compliance with regional medicines contracts to ensure the trust get best value for money when purchasing medicines The pharmacy department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital is modern, pro-active, forward-thinking and well respected both locally and nationally.   • To support the Principal Technician in ensuring compliance with CMU Medicines contracts and to establish arrangements for monitoring and reporting of resultant savings
  • To liaise with the Clinical Pharmacy Team to identify areas for generation of savings from changes in medicines usage and to agree on appropriate actions
  • To communicate with wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers on matters relating to medicines procurement and distribution
  • To oversee the management of medicines stock held in the pharmacy store, ensuring that stock takes are carried out in accordance with the agreed schedule and that discrepancies are investigated and accounted for accordingly.
  • To coordinate the operation and development of procurement and distribution innovation such as ward order assembly, hand held date capture etc
  • To coordinate the generation and analysis of procurement related performance indicators
  • To optimise the use of electronic trading (ordering and invoicing) and to ensure the pharmacy stores stock holding is managed in accordance with agreed performance indicators e.g. stock turn.
  • To manage the Pharmacy Procurement and Stores staff ensuring that their development needs are met
  • To coordinate the management of Controlled Stationery, including liaison with hospital printers, and control of associated stocks.
  • To oversee the purchasing of unlicensed and imported medicines, ensuring wherever possible compliance with Regional Contracts
  • To deputise for the Principal Technician at relevant meetings such as the East Midlands pharmacy purchasing consortium, Regional Homecare meetings etc
