Full Job Description
The main duties of the role are to
- Liaise with members of the public and hospital staff, acting as a first point of contact.
- Facilitate effective workflow through the receipt, prioritisation and collection of prescriptions.
- Organise and maintain accurate systems for filing prescriptions and delivery of medication.
- Monitor uncollected dispensed prescriptions and return unwanted medication into stock as required.
- Participate in the training of new staff. Your paid hours will be 29 hours per week worked over 4 days. Hours may operate between 8.30am and 7pm Monday-Friday. Rotas also include 1 or 2 Bank Holidays a year. Working patterns are subject to change to meet patient need. You must wear a uniform.
The Pharmacy Department at Arrowe Park Hospital are looking for an individual who can be the 'face of pharmacy'. You must be able to work under pressure and communicate effectively with patients and staff and in all kinds of situations. You will welcome everyone with a warm smile and great service. This role is not a normal receptionist role - it can be very demanding and requires the post holder to be on their feet all day whilst managing the dispensary prescription tracker, manning the reception, and answering the phones. Applicants should have a genuine desire to deliver the very best patient and staff experience by going above and beyond to help them. You should be able to think your way around challenges and step up when we are at our busiest. We are looking for someone to learn quickly. If you have done this kind of work before, that's great but if not, our friendly team can teach you all you need to know.
All new colleagues can expect to receive a warm and friendly Wirral welcome from the very first time they make contact with us. We are described as "competent and caring staff" by our patients. Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is situated on The Wirral peninsula which has a stunning coastline and beautiful countryside surroundings, with great activities for its residents. We provide a high quality range of acute care services and employ over 6,000 staff, who serve a population of approximately 400,000 people across Wirral, Ellesmere Port, Neston, North Wales and the wider North West footprint. We have approximately 855 beds trust-wide and our financial turnover is in excess of £337m. The Wirral is easily accessible with excellent transport links including motorway, train, bus or ferry and within easy reach to the major cities of Liverpool, Chester and Manchester as well as neighbouring North Wales.
