As a Pharmacy Support Worker, the post holder will be working in both the inpatient and outpatient dispensaries and have responsibilities for providing a friendly and efficient service to patients and Trust colleagues. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly to support our busy Pharmacy Team. The role is patient facing at times involving welcoming patients, providing information, receiving prescriptions, and signposting patients to other parts of the hospital. The position also involves creating prescription requests via phone or computer systems, the dispatching of medication and general support to the wider pharmacy team. Regardless of previous experience, a fully structured training programme we be provided and supported by a mentor within the team. Whether you are currently working in a pharmacy setting or have an interest in creating a career within pharmacy, then we are looking for you to join our friendly and forward-thinking team.Main duties of the job 1) To always provide excellent patient care and ensure customer services are delivered in a manner that is appropriate, relevant, and respectful to all our patients. 2) To ensure waiting times for our patients are kept within agreed Key Performance Indicators 3) To effectively communicate with various Christie Trust teams in a positive and professional manner. 4) To maintain confidentiality of patients and any other relevant information in accordance with the Data Protection Act. 5) To work as a team player with within the pharmacy. Share your knowledge and skills, be flexible and willing to assist your colleagues. 6) Take personal responsibility to understand and support pharmacy line managers in the achievement of targets and deadlines. 7) Take personal responsibility to complete all required training and personal development. 8) To understand and comply with the Trust and TCP Ltd policies and professional standards. 9) To assist with the training of other colleagues within the team. 10) To assist patients and Trust colleagues, both face to face and via the telephone with medicine queries. 11) To assist in the pack up and dispatch of patient medication. 12) Photocopying and replenishment of patient information leaflets, warning labels and basic filing for both pharmacy departments. 13) To liaise with Trust colleagues to ensure patients admitted to wards receive their medication within a timely manner.

The Christie Pharmacy Ltd Company (TCP) is a wholly owned subsidiary company, which is part of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The company was formed in December 2017 to provide a high-quality pharmacy service to both inpatients and outpatients of the Trust. Our services include:

  • providing bespoke medication for The Christie at Salford, The Christie at Oldham and fourteen other outreach sites
  • advising patients who want to self-medicate.
  • wholesale supplying medicines and devices to all wards on the Withington site
