Full Job Description

Following the retirement of one of the dispensary team we now have a vacancy for a full time Pharmacy Support Worker Higher Level - dispensary. As part of the team you will undertake dispensing duties including outpatients and inpatients on a daily basis utilising the robotic stock management and dispensing system., To undertake routine dispensing duties on a daily basis as part of the dispensing team, and to be included on the dispensary rota.

Dispensing medication involves, on receipt of prescription, generating accurate label on pharmacy computer system, booking out stock, counting or preparing medicine, supplying in a suitable container and counselling patients.

Dispensing inpatient, outpatient and discharge medications.

To carry out extemporaneous dispensing as required.

To dispense unlicensed medication and specials in accordance with procedures.

Dispensing of controlled drugs.

To carry out stock check of controlled drugs as directed by Dispensary Manager.

To be eligible to apply for this post you must have experience of working in a pharmacy environment with a minimum of NVQ 2 Pharmacy Services or equivalent to include dispensing modules or equivalent dispensing course and be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the duties carried out within the role.

Experience of working with the public is essential and an understanding of the pharmacy stock control computer system would be an advantage. You will have an ability to be organised and to remain calm and work effectively under pressure and a willingness to work as part of a team. Where required, this post will involve working across 7 days of the week.
