Full Job Description

The pharmacy department is currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated pharmacist to lead our Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) team. Working alongside our ePMA Pharmacy Technicians and ePMA Pharmacists, Chief Clinical Information Officer, Chief Nurse Information Officer, Chief Information Officer, the pharmacy team and healthcare & IT professionals across the organisation and across the wider NHS digital community you will work closely with stakeholders to ensure that the solution delivers the strategic and operational goals of the Trust which includes patient safety, quality of care, efficient use of staff resources and cost effective prescribing. Applicants should have significant previous experience of working with electronic prescribing solutions within a hospital setting.

  • Lead the development, implementation and ongoing management of clinical IT programmes with a focus on medicines optimisation
  • To ensure that the clinical IT programme delivers, the strategic and operational goals of the organisation in improving patient safety, quality of care, efficiency and cost effective resource usage
  • Lead the development and implementation of policies and procedures relevant to Clinical Informatics in Medicines Optimisation
  • Lead all aspects of quality assuring IT software and systems in relation to ePMA, including the provision of appropriate reports, audits and delivering actions to address any deficiencies or risks
  • Lead and advise on the IT and Clinical Informatics components of any future technology developments within pharmacy
  • Be a team leader and to hold accountability for ensuring that all pharmacy staff and others as needed are trained and competent (from an ePMA perspective) to carry out their job roles effectively
  • Provide expert advice on the development of structured training programmes for users of any clinical informatics system relating to medications management
  • Deliver a clinical pharmacy service in the trust to maintain clinical skills and ensure that any IT developments support such practice
  • Represent the Pharmacy department, Clinical Informatics and trust locally, nationally and internationally
