Full Job Description

+ Provide a daily medicines management service:
+ Administer medicines, ensuring that medicines are delivered to the correct resident and providing advice on any drug related queries
+ Assist the nursing staff with all medication queries.
+ Check all prescriptions
+ Perform medicines reconciliation for new receptions to the center
+ Check all medication including stock, removing unwanted items for return, in line with department policies and procedures
+ Provide problem solving advice about service provision and medicines management issues to residents.
+ On a daily basis enter resident's details on computerised record systems, from prescriptions prepared by others, and ensure that resident's drug histories are up to date and complete including information on homely remedy medication given In- Possession.
+ Provide advice to residents on compliance and concordance.
+ Provide advice about prescribed medication
+ Provide medication advice and advice on minor ailments.
+ Plan medicines management checks for in possession medication.
+ Assist in purchase of medicines, equipment and resources this includes:
+ Preparing daily orders according to usage and stock levels.
+ Encourage adherence to a local formulary reflecting current guidelines e.g. BNF, NICE and suggesting suitable alternatives if appropriate., + Participate in the efficient day to day running of pharmacy services and assisting senior managers, when required, in overseeing the management of the dispensary services.
+ Maintain an up to date knowledge and be fully conversant of developments in local/national pharmacy procedures and assist the pharmacy provider in regular review and development of these, e.g. Standard Operating Procedures.
+ Be fully conversant on the usage and appropriate maintenance of IT systems.
+ Assist in the collection and analysis of workload data when requested.
+ Identify areas where the technical pharmacy service can be developed, plan changes in liaison with healthcare colleagues.
+ Participate in service review and audit.
Provide support to locum staff (pharmacist or technicians), Applications will be transferred to the TRAC system, by completing an application you are giving authorisation for the transfer of your data. Including factual reference, occupational health clearance and statutory and mandatory training records

Please note if a DBS is applicable for the position then a charge will be deducted from your first salary or upfront cost if a staff bank position.
