Full Job Description

This is an exciting one year fixed term opportunity to join a team of Pharmacy professionals delivering a key service to patients attending St Mary's Hospital Portsmouth.

The work is both 'back room' and patient facing, and requires the ability to concentrate whilst busy, and maintain an attention to detail amidst interruptions. Tasks include labelling and dispensing medication, including controlled drugs, and undertaking this in a timely, legal, and ethically acceptable manner to meet customer needs. You will provide information to patients on the correct use of medicines, counselling patients and /or providing compliance aids/ cards to minimise barriers to taking the medications as intended and ensure that each patient has sufficient understanding of how to manage their treatment. The role also requires an effective contribution to stock control within the department and on the wards, including participating in stock checks, tracing, and resolving stock discrepancies .

We are seeking a person to provide a professional, efficient, and patient centred pharmacy service who can work well independently and on their own initiative with the ability to prioritise their workload.

The successful applicant will be approachable to queries and able to respond in a composed manner even when very busy and be able to signpost where necessary to other areas or staff

The role is based in a team and requires the post holder to work as part of that team, acting under supervision, as the workflow dictates.

This role requires the holder to assist with the provision of in-house competency-based training and assessment for assistants and trainees within the department
