Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for you to work with the pharmacy team based at St Nicholas Hospital (Gosforth) to have a role in direct patient care with opportunities to develop your clinical knowledge and skills. We welcome applications from registered Pharmacy Technician colleagues or those Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians who are due to qualify before April 2025 working in all sectors of the profession. Prior experience working in mental health is not required as a comprehensive programme of training and clinical supervision will be provided. We provide pharmacy and medicines optimisation services to all of our mental health, learning disability and neuro-rehabilitation inpatient areas, as well as to community and crisis teams. Our Pharmacy staff are highly regarded as valued members of the multi-disciplinary team., + The main duties of the role will be:

  • Medicines reconciliation and review on admission.
  • Providing support and information to patients and carers to assist with the management of their medicines.
  • Optimising medicines, taking a holistic view of both mental and physical healthcare needs.
  • Providing physical health and wellbeing advice to patients, carers and staff.
  • Discharge planning, liaison with patients, carers, community teams and pharmacies.
  • Operational support to the main dispensary at SNH by performing regular accuracy checking slots.
