Full Job Description

We are seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic, patient centred registered pharmacy technician to be part of the medicines management team at UHS. Your focus will be to help us create and develop our service for Critical Care & Theatres. You will be working closely with an experienced and supportive team of critical care pharmacists and the wider critical care MDT., A recent expansion has secured funding for 22.5hours (0.6wte) of a Band 5 pharmacy technician to help deliver our services across over 30 theatres and six critical care areas. As a regional centre for Neurology, Cardiology and Trauma patients we have a busy dept, providing care to patients far and wide. If you have a passion for ensuring patient safety, have good IT skills and enjoy problem solving, do make contact and discuss the role further. You will support the pharmacy teams with: - Drug histories. - Ordering and supplying medicines - Stock shortage management. - CD audits - Supporting the development of trainee pharmacy staff - Developing our patient safety focus - Project work. - Teaching Are your a registered pharmacy technician who is looking to do something a bit different? We have a friendly and developing team consisting of registered Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Support Workers who work alongside trainees. We challenge each other to be better every single day, while improving our services to meet the ever-changing needs of our diverse patient base. The Medicines Management team operate between 8.00am and 4.30pm each day, working in the inpatient dispensary until 7pm fortnightly. You will be required to join our weekend and bank holidays rota so we can continue to offer our services every day of the year. Flexible working hours and days of working will be considered. You will get the chance to experience a wide variety of tasks, building your knowledge and skill base while providing excellent patient care. Training and study time is fully supported, as well as the opportunity to build a network of colleagues across the UK and beyond. We have a strong focus on developing our staff with in-house competencies, leadership skills and exposure to management for junior staff. As a department we have an ethos for continuing professional development and training for all our staff. The post-holder will be required to undertake further study in:

  • In-house competencies
  • Medicines Management course (accredited)
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician course
  • Patient counselling course
  • Individual personal development plans and much more!
