Lingfield Surgery are offering an exciting opportunity to work alongside Clinical Pharmacists and the wider General Practice team to provide safe systems of prescribing and promote medicines optimisation for patients as a Pharmacy Technician. The post holder will support the repeat prescribing process and help to improve drug safety for patients registered to the surgery. This is a patient facing role with the opportunity to consult directly with patients in order to help them get the most out of their medicines. While this is a Practice based role, you will work alongside, and be supported by the Federations other pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and members of the PCNs multi-disciplinary team to support integration of the pharmacy team across the health and social care network.   • Undertake patient facing and patient supporting roles to ensure effective use of medicines, through shared decision-making conversations with patients.
  • Participate in the medicines monitoring activities, to support the repeat prescribing process and help ensure safe use of medication.
  • Carry out medicines optimisation tasks including effective medicine administration (e.g. checking inhaler technique), supporting medication reviews, and medicines reconciliation.
  • Support effective implementation of MHRA and other safety alerts.
  • Support the practice and Clinical Pharmacy team with CQC related activities.
  • Utilise consultation skills to work in partnership with patients to ensure they use their medicines effectively.
  • Provide specialist expertise, where competent, to address both the public health and social care needs of patients, including lifestyle advice.
  • Support initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing.
  • Support the implementation of national prescribing policies. This will be achieved through undertaking clinical audits (e.g. use of antibiotics), supporting quality improvement measures and contributing to the Quality and Outcomes Framework and enhanced services.
  • Supervise practice reception teams in sorting and streaming general prescription requests, so as to allow GPs and clinical pharmacists to review the more clinically complex requests., Some of our sites have free on-site parking (subject to availability) DHC actively encourage and promote diversity, ensure all voices are heard and included and are committed to equal opportunities for all.
