Full Job Description

The pharmacy technician, will bean integral part of the general practice team, working within theirprofessional boundaries in each practicewithin the Primary Care Network (PCN). This role will work under thesupervision of the PCN Clinical pharmacist(s) and alongside our existing team of technicians. The candidate will providetechnical support to the clinical pharmacists, practice GPs, nurses, HCAs andreception / administrative staff, and support the PCN and practices clinicalteams with queries around medication from patients and medicine reconciliationfollowing discharge from other care providers. The pharmacy technician willcomplete audits around patient safety in the prescribing of medication and presentthe information for sharing with the clinical team. The GP practices within our PCNrecognise that pharmacy technicians play an important role, complementing ourexisting clinical pharmacist team and other healthcare professionals of PCNNorths multi-disciplinary team.Pharmacy technicians core role responsibilities will cover clinical,technical and administrative categories and will undoubtedly enable greater effectiveand efficient use of medicines, promoting the safe and effective use ofmedicines in prescribing decisions to benefit our patients. Main duties of the job The candidate will provide technical support to the clinical pharmacists, practice GPs, nurses, HCAs and reception / administrative staff, and support the PCN and practices clinical teams with queries around medication from patients and medicine reconciliation following discharge from other care providers., Please see the attached job description and person specification for further details of the responsibilities of this role.

  • Experience as working as a pharmacy technician

  • Experience of medicines management or dispensing role in the community or within a hospital setting

  • Knowledge of General Practice repeat prescribing systems
  • Experience with Systm One, Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or Equivalent
  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

    Wakefield Health Alliance South PCN is looking to recruit anadditional Clinical Pharmacy Technician to join our existing pharmacy team.The team have built excellent working relationships amongst themselves and thepractices within our PCN.We are able to provide strong pharmacy leadershipwith regular training; listening and responding to the needs of the team and supportingthem to develop within their roles.
  • We consist of six GP practices on the Southern side ofWakefield District. Our practices are College Lane Surgery, White Rose Surgery,Langthwaite Surgery, Park Green, The Grange and Rycroft medical practice. You will be part of our growing multi-disciplinary additionalroles team, who all work together to support our GP practices and theirpatients. The roles currently includecare coordinators, clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians,Health and wellbeing coaches, First Contact Physiotherapist, Social PrescribingLink Worker, Mental health practitioner, Occupational Therapist and nursing staff. Our PCN is committed to improving the care provided toour patients, reducing health inequalities and raising the standards andquality of our general practices. You will be employed by Conexus Healthcare CIC whichis the Confederation for General Practice in Wakefield but working for the PCN.
