Full Job Description

If you are interested in fundraising and community relations, our Philanthropy & Alumnae Assistant or Manager position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in building an engaged and supportive community around South Hampstead High School. At South Hampstead, we are committed to providing more opportunities for bright young children who cannot afford our fees so that we can continue to develop the leaders, the thinkers, and the creators of tomorrow. The support we receive from our community of alumnae is crucial to ensuring this continues. To support the School's fundraising and alumnae engagement activity, you will play an important role in developing and maintaining the School's relationships with former pupils, past and present parents, and broader supporters. Working with the Director of Philanthropy, you will drive the School's community relations programme and be responsible for developing contact and long-term engagement with a wide variety of people who have had an affiliation of some form with South Hampstead High School. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Researching, writing, and editing content for the School's alumnae engagement communications and media
  • Planning and delivering a calendar of exciting and engaging events for alumnae
  • Working with the Director of Philanthropy to build a strategic fundraising programme
  • Researching and identifying potential supporters
  • Building relationships with key members of the School's alumnae community
  • Planning and delivering careers events to support current pupils, e.g., inviting members from the broader South Hampstead community to speak to and inspire pupils

You will need to be an effective communicator who can build strong working relationships. You will also need strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent writing skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure and meet deadlines are equally important.

Working at South Hampstead is stimulating, challenging, and fun. Located in leafy Hampstead, with the buzz of central London's cultural life close at hand, the School is very well served by public transport and there are excellent local amenities nearby. The School is part of the GDST, the UK's leading network of independent girls' schools. We offer a variety of benefits, such as:
  • Competitive salaries and pay progression
  • Access to extensive professional development opportunities
  • Training grants for qualifications
  • Generous pension schemes
  • Free life assurance benefit
  • Interest-free loans for training, computer purchase loans, and travel season ticket loans
  • A Cycle to Work scheme
  • Competitive terms and conditions of employment
  • A discount of up to 50% on fees for children at GDST schools
