Full Job Description

To be a member of the phlebotomy team providing a patient friendly service as required over a 6-day week between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00. Phlebotomists will be expected to provide a helpful and professional service to patients and healthcare staff within the Trust and primary care. Applications are invited from experienced Phlebotomists to join our team providing a high quality, compassionate care to our patients. We also welcome applications from people with minimal or no Phlebotomy experience providing they have other required attributes. All applicants if successful, unless they are at a standard where they can work in all areas needed, will start on a Band 2 progressing to Band 3 when they are working competently in all areas. We are looking for individuals with the skill and flexibility to support our services in Outpatients, Trust wards and GP clinics. The successful candidates should be willing to participate in the weekend rota and may be asked cover other sites (Basingstoke and Winchester hospitals) on occasions of unexpected leave/staff shortages. The individual will be responsible for ensuring that the blood specimens are taken in a manner that does not cause undue anxiety to the patient and that laboratories are provided with timely, high quality blood specimens taken in tubes that are appropriate for the tests requested.   • To be physically able to undertake the following requirements of the role -
  • standing, sitting, stretching or reaching to take bloods
  • Raising and lowering phlebotomy chairs and patient beds
