Phlebotomist / Health Care Assistant

Constable Country Medical Practice are looking to welcome an experienced and qualified phlebotomist / health care assistant into our busy practice, on a part time basis for up to 30 hours per week, to support our nursing team at both our East Bergholt & Capel St Mary Surgeries.,

• Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols toassist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care;


• Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples;


• Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample;


• Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirming with the patient whenever possible;


• Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff;


• Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues;


• Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.
  
  Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills.


• Experience of working in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care.


• Ability to record accurate clinical notes.


• Consistently confidential, compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.


• Ability to communicate effectively, and to understand the needs of the patient.


• Strength in problem-solving, with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required.
