Full Job Description
- Participate in running the in-house phlebotomy service
- Undertake HCA clinics incorporating cleaning and dressing minor wounds, stitch removal, ECGs, blood pressure recording and urinalysis
- Undertake B12 injections where appropriate and under a Patient Specific Directive
- Participate in running NHS Health check clinics
- Routine patient care as requested by GPs and practice nurses
- Support other members of the nursing team
- Chaperone duties if required for examinations Treatment room supplies
- In conjunction with the nursing team, ensure the maintenance of treatment room equipment and stock levels relating to patient care Pathological specimens
- Undertake the collection of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples and swabs etc. Perform any investigatory procedures requested by the GPs within the boundaries of personal qualification and competency under supervision of the Practice Nurses Administrative and professional responsibilities
- Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded contemporaneously in the patients electronic records
- Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the practice
- Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports
- Attend and participate in practice meetings as required
We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant Phlebotomist, preferably with experience of Primary Care or the NHS, who will work25 hours a week over Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with the possibility of extra hours to help cover annual leave, sick leave. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake routine patient care, managing their own pre-booked clinic and workload within the designated timescale. General HCA clinics can be extremely varied, from babies and young children to the elderly, and our staff need excellent communication skills with a caring and compassionate nature to be able to deal with whoever is booked into the clinic. A Healthcare Assistant needs to be flexible and adaptable, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and be professional at all times.
