Full Job Description

Public Health Nursing is made up of Health Visitors, School Nurses, Staff Nurses and Community Health Workers providing support to children and families in Devon and promoting child health and education. It performs an essential role in protecting and safeguarding vulnerable children and families.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Organising clinical diaries to arrange appointments for service users in line with statutory timescales

  • Updating and maintaining a variety of information/records systems for clients to a high level of accuracy

  • Collating and analysing data as and when required, and the provision and presentation of data to managers and other agencies

  • Being proactive in ensuring the accuracy of data on the organisation's systems and databases

  • Ensure the office administration is maintained efficiently with regard to visitors, telephone calls, filing, photocopying and general stock ordering.

  • Ensure that high standards of customer service are provided by communicating effectively and appropriately with service users, colleagues, managers and a range of professionals from within and outside of the organisation

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and flexible administrator to join a busy team of Public Health Nursing business support staff located in Barnstaple. The role is full time but there may be some flexibility around the number of hours.


  • The role is based in Taw View, Barnstaple but will have the option to work from home for at least part of the time.,
  • You will have experience of working in an administrative role

  • You will have good planning and organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines

  • You will have the ability to prioritise and manage workload within a busy environment

  • You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Your attention to detail and accuracy will be excellent
