Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Physician Associate (PA) to join the General Medicine team at Musgrove Park Hospital, there are posts available in the following areas:
+ Shepperd Ward ( general medicine)
+ Exmoor ward (general medicine)
+ Portman ward (general medicine)
+ Neuroscience ward ( general medicine, stroke step down and neurology)
+ Triscombe ward south - Care of the older person (COOP and Parkinson's disease)
+ Conservators ward (general med and endocrine)
The successful post holders will be an integral part of the medical team, and the wider multidisciplinary team in the provision of a high quality, patient centred service, participating in all aspects of the team's activities as appropriate., + To assess and examine patients, take patient histories, order appropriate investigations, interpret investigation findings, forming a list of differential diagnoses and recommend management/treatment accordingly.
+ To perform delegated diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, where required and subject to appropriate training and experience, for example, but not limited to:
Venepuncture
Cannulation
Arterial blood gases
ECG
Insertion of catheters
Peak flows
+ To maintain their own clinical skills to a high standard to ensure safe delivery of care.
+ To work with a team of doctors and AHPs to facilitate excellent patient care, under the supervision of a lead clinician.
+ To maintain timely and appropriate documentation.
+ To undertake 50 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually, meeting the requirements of the 18 areas of the CCPC to maintain certification with the PAMVR.
+ To contribute to the development of efficient pathways of care.
+ To contribute to achieving and maintaining outstanding performance in the team / organisation.
+ To be accountable for the care given and complying with the Fitness to Practice and Code of Conduct standard as established by the Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Registration Commission (PAMVRC) and subsequently the appropriate statutory regulating body, when this is in place.
+ To support and contribute to timely discharge planning.
