Full Job Description

Are you an experienced HCPC registered Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist looking for a new or additional role with career development opportunities? Have you ever thought about working within a prison environment, helping to rehabilitate and support offenders to live decent and purposeful lives as a member of the community?

If you are looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day, then this is the place to be. We believe in a good work life balance so there is no on call or weekend work.

This role is part time working 32 hours per month, 8 x 4 sessions per month at HMP Isle of Wight.

You will be responsible for assessing and treating a range of MSK pathologies with some complex and/or chronic presentations. You will need to demonstrate advanced MSK diagnostic and treatment skills, be able to work within the MDT and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

This is your opportunity to work as part of a forward thinking, innovative health care team, including GPs, nurses, pharmacists, podiatrists and mental health professionals, delivering high quality, best practice treatment. You will also form part of the wider MSK Health in Justice Team comprising of physiotherapists and podiatrists in 58 prisons across the country.

HMP Isle of Wight is a Category B male training prison and is formed by the cluster of 3 former establishments; HMP Parkhurst, HMP Albany and HMP Camp Hill.

What you'll be doing

You will be closely supported and mentored by our Clinical Lead, and this combined with our well-developed appraisal system, in-service training and funding for external clinical courses, you will be provided with an excellent supportive learning environment to continue your professional development.

With proven post-registration experience of assessing and treating MSK conditions in an outpatient setting you must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be willing to learn and develop.
