Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Practitioner to join our pelvic health physiotherapy team at Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Our team provides specialist assessment & treatment for people who have symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction. We also support people in the perinatal period with obstetric musculoskeletal conditions or pelvic health concerns.

We are looking for an experienced and competent individual, with knowledge & skills of working within therapy in a healthcare setting. You will work alongside a supportive team of physiotherapists as well as the wider multi disciplinary team & be able to demonstrate good communication skills with both staff & patients.

Applicants will have a minimum of a level 5 foundation degree in a relevant area, require good therapeutic handling skills, good problem solving & prioritisation skills & excellent communication skills.

The applicant will have a special interest in working with people in the perinatal period & supporting those with pelvic floor difficulties. They will have an understanding of exercise rehabilitation prescription, patient engagement and health promotion.

Main duties of the job

Independently plan and provide programmes of therapeutic activity for patients, within protocols/procedures/guidelines; modifying within agreed parameters

Implement and evaluate basic therapy interventions for patients relating to their treatment in line with specific condition pathways

To assist the qualified therapists with a range of duties and provide enhanced skills of direct care and support for patients

To complete administrative duties to support the team and to ensure the smooth running of clinics. To input accurate patient data and clinical records onto the IT system

To organise and plan own caseload and others to meet service and patient priorities.

Readjusting plans as situations change/ arise in consultation with qualified staff where appropriate

Following induction and training, the post holder will deliver patient exercise and education groups be able to feedback and escalate any concerns to senior staff in a timely manner.

Be able to engage and motivate patients and support patients who may have barriers to communication.
