We work collaboratively across Somerset to deliver whole MSK pathway integration and a system-wide approach to improve patient access to the right care, by the right person, at the right time. Do you want a role that allows you to further your physiotherapy rehabilitation skills and promote the education of others? The post holder would work with the physiotherapists in the management of out-patients. 75% of the work is clinically related -- the focus of this post is the rehabilitation of out-patients with orthopaedic conditions, this will be with individual patients and with groups of patients. We have a rehabilitation gym and hydrotherapy pool onsite. We already run well established ACL rehabilitation and ESCAPE pain classes. You would be part of a highly trained team of gym technicians who help patients transition to mainstream exercise.,
- To work with the physiotherapy team delivering services to patients in need of rehabilitation whilst under the care of the physiotherapy department.
- To undertake specific skilled support work to aid the rehabilitation of patients/clients in the gymnasium or hydrotherapy pool.
- To accept patients referred by a physiotherapist and carry as own patient caseload under indirect supervision of the Physiotherapist and close mentoring from Band 4 Physiotherapy Assistant.
- To formulate and progress intervention programmes within agreed limits relevant to knowledge/experience.
- To work unsupervised delivering patient programmes whilst keeping the physiotherapist informed.
- To assist therapy staff in activities related to non-direct patient/client contact, e.g. equipment maintenance, delivery and collection, clerical and administration duties.
- To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team alongside other agencies (eg; cardiac rehab and proactive team etc) ensuring that effective communication and liaison takes place at all times.
