Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Physiotherapist to join our expanding elective orthopaedic therapy team at our Elective Centre, Ashford Hospital, Surrey.

There is excellent multi-disciplinary working with the orthopaedic teams and involvement in enhanced recovery programmes for the elective joint arthroplasty service, a fast-paced day surgery unit and other elective surgeries such as spinal and arthroscopic surgery, where we strive for excellent patient outcomes.

This post requires advancedclinical knowledge and experience in the management elective Orthopaedic inpatient and day case procedures, and the ability to improve services in line with GIRFT guidance and NICE guidelines. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership jointly with with our established band 7 physiotherapy team leader to our expanding elective service, ensuring we build a strong team and support our staff with their development and provide excellent patient care.

The successful candidate will be expected to support the weekend service and late cover until 8pm in order to support our efforts to reduce length of stay., The main duties of this role includes:

Take a leading role in the advanced assessment, clinical diagnosis, treatment and management of patients after orthopaedic surgery.

Be responsible for the day to day operational delivery of therapy services to the elective orthopaedic wards and day surgery unit.

Work autonomously as an expert clinician, liaising effectively with other health professionals to ensure evidence based delivery of service within professional scope of practice.

Provide leadership in specialist field and be a key contributor to quality improvement, research and audit.

Support staff development and training across professional and organisational boundaries.

Participate in weekend working on a rota basis and late cover to the elective orthopaedic ward and day surgery unit.

The Trust provides a 24 hour, 7 day per week, 365 days per year service. The post holder will be required to work to cover services in the evening, at weekends and Bank Holidays in order to maintain essential services. How contracted hours are worked may be changed in line with the needs of the service following consultation.
