We have upcoming opportunities to join one of our West Sussex based RIT teams as a PIP1 Crime Investigator. A role where every day is different, and involves gaining trust from victims and witnesses and being responsible for keeping them updated throughout an investigation, interviewing a suspect, gathering or reviewing evidence, taking witness statements, collecting items for forensic examination, liaising with solicitors and the Crown Prosecution Service, and creating files for court., Policing is an exciting 24/7 business and we all have commitments outside work. We will provide ongoing training and development, supporting you in achieving your PIP 1 accreditation.

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable sharing both positive and difficult news, and demonstrate the ability to work under pressure, solve problems and prioritise your workload.
  • Be confident and have the skills to deal with challenging and unexpected situations.
  • Be a team player with proven initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Be passionate about delivering an excellent service to the public.
  • Be committed to treating people fairly, honest and trustworthy, and always act with integrity.
  • Have a full manual driving licence by the time of appointment.
  • PIP1 investigative experience and use of core police systems such as Niche would be beneficial but is not essential as training of PIP1 crime investigations, alongside mentoring, will be offered.

    The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
