Full Job Description

The PIP2 Investigators purpose is to manage and progress the investigation of criminal offences and other incidents/enquiries, working as an integral part of a mixed economy team of Police Officers and Staff. Completing investigative actions, prepare case papers ensuring file completeness and delivery in accordance with Court deadlines, legislation and Force policy and maintain victim and witness confidence to facilitate successful outcomes

Your development will mirror that of a Detective Constable. A PIP2 investigator can expect to receive the same training as a Detective Constable with the expectation that they lead the investigation of Serious & Complex Crime.

PIP2 Investigators hold designated powers to enable them to conduct searches and interviews.

Must have capability to travel to different locations across a Local Police Area or

Geographical hub and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. Due to the requirement to work flexibly, unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working; public transport may not be available or suitable at these times. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential.

Vetting. All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
