Full Job Description
We have an opportunity to join our dynamic IT and digital team for a 14-month placement where you can grow with us. You can be part of our Technical delivery team. This team develops, installs, and runs, all of the core components in a modern IT driven business. As a Placement Technical Specialist, you will support some of our most vital IT systems and Infrastructures and learn loads as part of our friendly, supportive team. This is your chance to build on your degree and gain some valuable real world Infrastructure experience in a large organisation. The systems you'll work on help our colleagues in social care and education to provide essential support to Leicestershire residents, including older people, vulnerable people, children and young people. If you've gained some skills in IT systems and applications before, this is an ideal opportunity to develop. Our current placement students have said: "This experience has been so valuable and I've been able to focus on my areas of interest. This is really going to help me in the future." '' It has been an enriching journey where every challenge is a chance to innovate and every project is an opportunity to grow.'' About the role With your growing experience, you'll work on a wide range of technology and systems, including Cloud infrastructure, cyber security, SQL, and Azure. You'll work as part of small teams who will help you along the way, developing your knowledge and experience. You'll help to give technical advice and information in a simple way, helping people working at the council to get on with their jobs. You'll solve problems and help to test systems to make sure they work and are up to our standards. You'll learn about how we manage changes, upgrades, and problems. You'll get the chance to work with different teams, who specialise in different areas of IT and digital. This will give you a great overview and some ideas about what you might specialise in. Once you have the skills, there may be occasions where you'll be work outside of normal hours and help with urgent issues or emergency support.
