Full Job Description
We are looking for a Planner to join our Development Management team. You will be supported in your development within the role with the opportunity to undertake further post graduate study if required. Responsibilities will include assessing planning applications, undertaking site visits, writing reports and engaging in correspondence and discussion with applicants, their agents, members of the public, your colleagues and our elected Members.

It is essential that you hold a degree qualification to be considered for this role. A post graduate degree in planning is desirable but not essential.

We are a proactive local planning authority in south east Essex. We have a published 5.15 year supply of land for housing, a complete local development plan supporting and directing the future growth and prosperity of the district up to 2025; with a new Local Plan being prepared. We process over 1200 applications per annum, all whilst achieving delivery above set government targets. Plus, we have a busy and effective Planning Enforcement team that works hard to protect our district and a dedicated team of technical officers supporting us with the administration of applications and appeals.
We are a great team, with a good mix of experience in all disciplines and we would welcome a new member to the team. Rochford District Council works in partnership with Brentwood Borough Council, also located in south east Essex, as the Oneteam approach, where additional opportunities for experience and career progression could also arise.
Salary: £31,067 to £37,938 per annum
Relocation package of up to £5,000 available.
