Full Job Description
We are now seeking a Planning Enforcement Officer to join us on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week., As a Planning Enforcement Officer, you will help to shape a new and exciting shared services team across Watford Borough Council and St Albans City and District Council. Providing advice and support to councillors, other planning officers, developers and members of the public, you will handle a caseload of enforcement investigations and enquiries. You will make site visits, attend meetings, draft reports, and make written recommendations. Negotiating with applicants and third parties on enforcement and related planning matters, you will secure compliance with the planning policy objectives of the relevant authority. Additionally, you will: - Prepare for and attend planning appeals - Present evidence at hearings and inquiries - Support direct actions associated with remedying breaches of planning control
Experience as a planning enforcement officer - Good analytical, judgmental, creative and developmental skills - Knowledge of planning legislation and policy at national and local level - Pragmatic attitude where some flexibility may be required to achieve a positive outcome - Good negotiation skills - Good oral and written communications skills - Good IT skills including an ability to use office programs including Microsoft Office suite A basic Disclosure check or DBS enhanced check (as applicable) will be carried out for this post.
