Full Job Description

The post may also be eligible to a vehicle through our lease car scheme., We are looking to recruit a new Planning Enforcement Officer to complement our existing team., The Council is seeking to tackle enforcement in an efficient and effective manner with the Planning Enforcement Team making a positive difference to the District. The Council has invested significantly in the Service and we are now seeking to recruit a new Planning Enforcement Officer. The role is pivotal within the team and you will be responsible for a diverse caseload of planning enforcement cases, including all the related case management and customer liaison. You will have strong interpersonal, persuasion and negotiation skills with experience of bringing contraventions to a resolution in a fair and proportionate manner. You will be carrying out site inspections, offering advice and resolving breaches of planning control through the most appropriate action. This will include, where necessary, the drafting of reports and formal notices, collecting evidence in a prescribed manner, the preparation of case files for legal/appeal proceedings and giving evidence at Court or during the appeal process.
We welcome applications from Planning Enforcement Officers looking for a new challenge within a busy and innovative team, or candidates with similar related experience looking to take on a new opportunity. You will ideally have gained experience of working on a range of planning enforcement matters and have a working knowledge of CPIA and PACE rules. Experience of working in an enforcement environment and within a customer focused setting is essential., The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent verbal and written communication, and customer service skills, as well as the necessary motivation to deliver high performance whilst managing a caseload and working to tight deadlines.
