The role of the Planning Officer is to work in line with policies and legislation plan events and operations including protected person visits making use of force procedures and working with multi agencies and partners. You will be required to coordinate the planning process, as the conduit between key individuals both internal and external. What you'll do

  • Liaison and co-ordination between Northumbria Police and various organisations as applicable in respect of royal visits, contingency planning and event planning to support the decision-making process.
  • Prepare, review and evaluate plans for events, operations and VIP visits in order to ensure compliance with nationally agreed policy, codes of practice, regulations and other procedures affecting planning and maintain knowledge of this.
  • The planner will be allocated events which may include major events such as the Great North Run, Pride, Music events or protests. This list is not exhaustive, events can be pre-planned or spontaneous with only a few days' notice and the planner is expected to plan to a high standard in both scenarios. The planner will be expected to work in the Tactical Command room for some events.
  • Assist in ensuring plans of other organisations are compatible with police service response, providing consultation and advice to ensure a common approach. Adapt planning skills in relation to specific operations.
  • Demonstrating knowledge in relation to event and operational planning to organisers, council representatives and internal staff and contribution to the resolution of issues & problems during the planning phase.
  • Represent the department or force at meetings, ensuring the views, interests and reputation of the organisation are presented and protected including safety advisory groups and other multi-agency meetings., We are proud members of the Business Disability Forum, with whom we collaborate with to improve the lives of disabled employees.   • Knowledge of planning, experience of report writing and administration.
  • Demonstrable experience of organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Flexible approach.
  • Demonstrable experience of using own initiative to highlight areas for improvement with a range of solutions.
  • An ability to motivate themselves and work well on their own, as well as part of a team.
  • Able to utilise both written and verbal methods to communicate, including the use of a variety of ICT equipment and software.
  • Experience in administration and measurable experience in dealing with stakeholders and partners.
