The Opportunity
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E's integrated teams.
As a Plant Layout Engineer, you'll support building design projects by managing essential layout data and ensuring technical accuracy across process diagrams, equipment data, cable lists, and load information. You'll enhance layouts by coordinating the placement of mechanical and electrical systems, designing routes for pipes, HVAC ducts, and cable trays within a 3D model alongside a CAD team. Additionally, you'll produce technical documents such as progress reports, equipment notes, and impact analyses, issuing layout drawings to project teams and overseeing layout activities to meet compliance standards., Here, we do right by each other and everyone's welcome. What you'll be doing
You'll support the design and layout of building projects by ensuring technical accuracy and consistency in input data, such as diagrams, equipment data, and cable lists. You'll collaborate with a CAD team to position equipment, design pipe routes, and integrate HVAC and electrical components within a 3D model.
You'll also be responsible for preparing essential technical documents, including reports, equipment notes, and design procedures, and will distribute layout drawings to project teams, ensuring they meet compliance standards.
You will manage project changes effectively and oversee requested modifications, address technical issues, coordinate layout reviews, and support design companies in creating manufacturing deliverables.
Who you are
Being a Plant Layout Engineer means bringing expertise in engineering areas like piping, mechanical, HVAC, and safety to support complex projects in an industrial setting. You'll apply a solid understanding of layout standards for industrial projects, with a particular emphasis on safety protocols, especially within nuclear facilities, addressing aspects such as flooding, fire protection, and radiological safety.
You'll be comfortable identifying and communicating issues while working with diverse stakeholders to develop practical solutions that balance project needs. In a dynamic technical environment, you'll prioritise tasks by gathering input from multiple sources, always keeping the broader project context in mind to optimise cost and timelines.
