Full Job Description

It is the duties of the Supervisor to actively work with the Relief Plant Supervisor & District Operations Manager to run their site in accordance with the company Procedures & Policies for, Health & Safety, Environmental, & Quality.

  • H&S, Environmental, Quality Objectives and Targets set out by the company.

  • Customer service (Batching quality concrete through the use of processes and procedures)

  • Material Handling. (In & Out. Stocks to be held on batching computer)

  • Stocks maintenance

  • Maintenance (Housekeeping, cleaning and monitoring equipment together with reporting defects)

  • Adhere to Hanson code of conduct and full compliance.


  • Key accountability

  • To follow & comply with Heidelberg Materials Health & Safety procedures & Heidelberg Materials policies as to conform to the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. Actively reporting Near Hits & issues to management. Insuring all site personnel work in safe & responsible manner.

  • To accurately batch concrete in accordance with approved batch systems and procedures.

  • To ensure that the plant is adequately stocked with approved materials to meet the demands of production. (Good communication with Relief Plant Supervisor & District Operations Manager

  • Receive customer enquiries and orders in a polite and courteous manner, maintaining company image to the highest standard. Planning & scheduling of work to meet customer service. (When required to cover Relief Plant Supervisor & District Operations Manager onsite)

  • To liaise with contractors and Office to ensure that production of concrete meets customer's requirements and to give optimum quality output and standards in accordance with approved Procedures Manual, Working instructions and Technical Instructions.

  • To ensure that all waste disposals, water discharges and dust emissions are dealt with in accordance with the environmental procedures.

  • To effectively operate the batching plant to the standards required by Heidelberg Materials and maintain site presentation.

  • Too visually inspect and check all incoming raw materials and verify stock reconciliation weekly. Any discrepancies should be reported to the Relief Plant Supervisor & District Operations Manager immediately. Daily / weekly stocks should be recorded & forwarded to the Relief Plant Supervisor & District Operations Manager. A month end closing stock must be completed & forwarded to the management accounts team & Relief Plant Supervisor & District Operations Manager.

  • To regularly inspect, carry out and ensure that plant routine maintenance is adhered to and that the cleanliness of the plant mechanism, plant area, buildings and equipment are maintained and cleaned in accordance with Hanson standards.

  • To report any defect, action or occurrence that may jeopardise the operation in any respect of health & safety, the environment, product quality and service.

  • To be familiar with and ensure full compliance with Hanson policies on health & safety, the environment, quality control, fraud prevention and the Competition Act (RTP).

  • To ensure that the site, plant and associated buildings are kept in a clean, tidy and in a safe condition at all times.

  • To maintain the security of the site, plant and associated buildings at all times.

  • To create and maintain, a working relationship between all third parties and contractors for everyone's mutual benefit.

  • To seek advice from the Relief Plant Supervisor & District Operations Manager on matters outside the scope of a Batchers authority.

  • To carry out additional duties as may from time to time be necessary.

  • Self-Motivation: Tendency to approach the role with energy, drive and enthusiasm that leads to pride in work carried out and quality of site and product.

    Good general education required and large amount of health and safety regulations / Environmental compliance are required to be understood and carried out.

  • Certification by EPIC to operate mobile plant.

  • NVQ qualification process manufacture

  • Control of Contractors / Control of Contractors / Fire Safety Awareness / IOSH Supervising Safely

  • NVQ 2/4 Diploma in Health Safety and Environmental Management / NQF Apprenticeship
