Full Job Description

We have an exciting role for a Platform Engineering Architect, who will be responsible for the development and implementation of global infrastructure standards, policies, and principles to guide the platform and development teams' efforts across the organization. You will also be responsible for designing robust, scalable, and secure platform environments that support our applications and services. Working closely with cross-functional teams globally, you will translate their needs into strategic technical requirements and create and manage architectural designs and blueprints. This role reports to the Principal Cloud Architect within the Global Platform Engineering team. You will:

  • Partner and collaborate with enterprise-wide stakeholders to understand their technical and business challenges, requirements, and roadmaps to ensure the successful achievement of their objectives.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of internal architectural standards, best practices, and methodologies across a wide range of technologies to solve organizational problems at scale while understanding the interaction between engineering, operations, and development teams.
  • Provide architectural direction and strategies to business and technology teams.
  • Champion and guide the creation of reference architectures, blueprints, whitepapers, data sheets, and other high-value documentation through our internal RFC process.
  • Responsible for planning, designing, consolidating, and leading the implementation of global infrastructure tools and applications across the organization.
  • Take ownership by collaborating with multiple stakeholders to develop specific reference architectures and establish architecture standards. Provide technical solutions and conduct thorough technical assessments and reviews.

    Professional experience in architecting, implementing, operating, and managing cloud-based and hybrid infrastructure, primarily on AWS and GCP platforms.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex technology ecosystems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.
  • Understanding of the cybersecurity space, including knowledge of cyber defense products and services, and experience with cloud-based architecture.
  • Experience in key disciplines such as computing, storage, networking, data & analytics, and software development.
  • Ability to translate application requirements into deliverable solutions effectively.
  • Strong skills in automation development, proficient in one or more automation languages such as CloudFormation, Terraform, Shell scripting, Python, or Ruby.
  • Familiarity with managing code within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology.
  • Understanding of source code control concepts, particularly using GIT repositories.
  • Experience in developing and implementing DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and monitoring & observability solutions.
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing models and architectures, including Containers, Serverless, PaaS, Microservices, and Event-Driven architectures.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis).
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and management tools such as CloudWatch, Splunk, Sumo Logic, StackDriver, and New Relic.
  • Experience in conducting technical workshops and advising stakeholders on architectural and strategic decisions.
  • Ability to provide hands-on prototypes and implementations incorporating cloud architectural best practices, and to develop technical content such as white papers.
  • Excellent communicator with strong communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders, and possessing strong problem-solving abilities with a creative approach to resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Experience working with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Attained industry certifications in Cloud and/or Cross Discipline vendors.
