Full Job Description

We are looking for a qualified nursery nurse or childcare professional to come and work in our team as a Play and Activity Worker. This is a role which would suit someone who is looking for an opportunity of working in a supportive and diverse team within the children and young people division in the healthcare sector. This post will be working with all ages of children and young people from birth - 18 years working with inpatients and outpatients from varied specialties. UCLH strive to be a flexible working Trust and encourage applications from people seeking flexible working options., You will need to have relevant experience of working with babies, children and/or young people, have extensive knowledge of child development and be able to deal sensitively with families under stress. You will need to be able to engage easily with children and young people and be able to work effectively with your MDT colleagues to use play and recreation techniques creatively to enhance the patient's hospital experience. You will work as part of a supportive team where play and recreation is valued and respected as an integrated part of patient's treatment and your contribution to the patient's pathway will be highly respected.
The post holder will work alongside a team of play and activity coordinators, play specialists and youth support co-ordinators who will support you in your role and the leadership team who will actively support your professional development.
The post holder will need to be able to work flexible hours with shifts between 7:30am - 6pm to support service needs. Our service provides weekend and bank holiday with cover requirements of 1:6 weekends and 1:6 bank holidays., Please note that all correspondence regarding your application will be via email. Please note that if you are at present in a training position on the 2016 new junior doctor's contract and are applying for a Trust doctor role your salary will not be pay protected.
You will be placed on the appropriate point of the Trust Doctor pay scale based on your previous experience.

A team which is led by a supportive leadership team who are members of the governing bodies of play, striving to embed high quality specialised play practices on a national level. This post will help shape the delivery of services to young people within health and is an opportunity to expand your knowledge, skills and experience of working within a range of specialties., Level 3 Diploma in Child Care/Play Work/ Nursery Nurse, is required for this post.
