Plumber - If you are a dedicated and skilled Plumber with a passion for excellence, we inviteyou to join our team at the United States Air Force, 48th Civil Engineer Squadron, RAFLakenheathWe are looking for someone with knowledge and experience in performing the full range ofjourney level plumbing duties such as installing, repairing, and modifying water supply.Why RAF Lakenheath:Located in the heart of Suffolk, RAF Lakenheath is home to the 48th Civil Engineer Squadron.This base is pivotal in maintaining international security and fostering strong alliances betweenthe US and UK. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards ofoperational readiness., You will be responsible to perform the full range of journey level plumbing duties such asinstalling, repairing, and modifying water supply, sewage disposal, gas distribution, oil lines, andsimilar utility systems and equipment. You may train and/or guide other personnel inperformance of plumbing duties. You will be required to drive a motor vehicle; an appropriatevalid driver's license CAT B will be required. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week, shiftwork may be required but the schedule will be Monday to Friday where start & end times maybe modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organisation's flexible workingpolicies.For specific qualification requirements for this position, you can visit: Federal Wage SystemQualifications,
- You will Independently install, modify, repair, and maintain a variety of new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, backflow prevention devices/assemblies, fire sprinkler systems, and showers.
- You will plan and accomplish work from initial layout to final assembly which involves interpreting and applying building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and other plumbing guides/codes, and using shop mathematics.
- Troubleshoot/test various plumbing systems and equipment including backflow prevention devices such as reduced pressure principle devices, double check devices, atmospheric vacuum breakers, and other cross connection devices.
- You will use and maintain tools such as tapes, rules, plumb bobs, hand and power pipe threaders, cutters, pipe wrenches, angle drills, hacksaws and power saws, power sewer cleaning equipment, various gas detectors and meters, and lead pots.
- You will also utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Use and assure proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing.

As the Plumber you will be required to hold an NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing. You will haveknowledge of and experience performing equipment assembly, installation, operation, and repair,to include routing, placement, slant, slope, and fall of systems; and of technical practices in orderto plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair various systems and equipment and wellas knowledge of and experience applying and enforcing safety regulations, procedures, andpractices. You will show skill in installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility,supply, and disposal systems and equipment without more than normal supervision, skill in usingand maintaining tools and equipment such as rules, levels, plumb bobs, dividers, various gaugesand meters, various drain cleaning devices, hydrostatic pumps, and torches as well as skill introubleshooting difficult or hard-to-detect leaks and operating problems.You will also have the ability to use shop mathematics, take measurements, and lay out angles,arcs, and circles.You will need to be flexible as it may be required for you to work overtime or holidays on shortnotice.All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
