Full Job Description

I am a 20-year-old young man living in the Llanharry area with my family who is in the process of moving to Cardiff. I am currently in University studying Environmental Geoscience. An Environmental Geoscientist uses their understanding of the planet and its processes to predict hazards like floods and earthquakes, clean up dangerous waste. I enjoy Geology, films especially Korean thrillers, football supporting Man United, rugby, learning about different countries around the world, going to the cinema and kayaking. I am a wheelchair user but also transfers independently from wheelchair to chair. I have ASD, ADHD and can sometimes experience some anxiety when meeting new people. I have a real love for food and I am quite adventurous and want to try different cuisines., To support me to access the community, after university to participate in activities including socialising and societies as part of the university. I would love to find a PA who is low key and almost inconspicuous supporting me but not overbearing. I'd also like to go to the gym and would require someone to support me. Support with preparation of meals and planning appointments with work and deadlines for studies.

HOURS OF WORK

Up to 18.5 hours per week available

Saturday afternoon into evening

Wednesday afternoon/evening/night and possibly then the union night.

PA would be needed for weekends and evenings around my University schedule, which I have in advance.

I am quite flexible with availability, as long as it is around my schedule

RATES OF PAY

£13.30 per hour plus weekly expenses

Accompanying me in the community
Ensuring my safety is priority at all times
Encouraging my interaction to develop relationships & independence
Exploring different things, I may enjoy
Support and assist me to attend and participate in activities.
Helping me with keeping my deadlines
Meal preparation
Planning appointments

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

Someone outgoing, confident, flexible and reliable
Someone who is mindful of how my condition affects me
PA to have a mature attitude
Available on evenings and weekends

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence.

The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
