Here at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our community podiatry team as a Band 5 Podiatrist on a permanent contract. We are looking to recruit a motivated, forward thinking, HCPC Registered Podiatrist with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work in a community setting delivering high quality patient centred care.

Working as a community Podiatrist you will be required to use your initiative and provide a range of high quality podiatric interventions in a range of locations including clinical, domiciliary, nursing homes and other external settings throughout the Wakefield district.

This is a great opportunity for a new graduate or recently qualified Podiatrist who is looking to develop their clinical skills.

Core working hours are: 9 day fortnight, 8.30-5.30 Monday to Thursday and 8.30-4.00 Friday.

Main duties of the job

To develop and implement clinically effective Podiatry interventions to the population covered by Wakefield District Health and Care Partnership, delivering services from a number of locations dependent upon service need.

The post holder will work in collaboration with the Service Manager to:- Modernise and develop the service, reflecting local needs and practice; and

Contribute to the collation of information for performance management within the service.

To use clinical reasoning, critical thinking, analysis and reflection to support assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning and to develop and implement individualised treatment plans for patients with foot pathology and medical need. This will be delivered to a range of high risk patients including those with diabetes, vascular disease, chronic neuropathy, chronic disease, e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, terminally ill patients and other complex medical health care needs in accordance with Professional/Trust policies and guidelines;

To provide general care in a range of locations including clinical, domiciliary, hospital, nursing homes and other external settings

To work as a highly motivated team member to achieve the best patient outcome

To undertake nail surgery assessment and nail surgery

Participation in the placements of students/other healthcare professionals, professional support of undergraduate Podiatrists and trainee Podiatry assistants who deliver care in post holders clinic area
