Full Job Description

The Podiatrist will provide professional foot care as an autonomous practitioner. To plan, manage and organise a caseload of a diverse range of patients who require nail cutting, within the community setting.
The Podiatry Service supports patients with foot and lower limb problems to maintain and improve their mobility, and help them remain independent. We also treat and prevent complications for people considered at "high risk".
Biomechanical podiatry provides diagnosis and treatment for a range of muscle-related and joint-related foot and lower limb problems which may be due to development, posture, occupation and exercise, or due to long-term conditions such as arthritis., Podiatrist will be responsible for:
· Assessing, developing and implement individualised care for patients who have been referred for nail cutting treatment, ensuring customers have an excellent treatment experience
· To monitor the changing needs of the patient and where necessary, refer the patient back to the Podiatrist if their podiatric or medical condition needs to be reviewed.
· To liaise with clerical staff around appointments and communication with patients and professionals.
· Be responsible and aware of Health and Safety in relation in daily working practice
· To maintain accurate records of all patient consultations and related work carried out at each clinical session, including computerised data collection.
· Work autonomously and be responsible for managing own caseload within the legal and ethical boundaries as set by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
· To prioritise clinical time to best manage a clinical caseload, ensuring clinics are appropriately booked in order to maximise delivery of appropriate and effective care.
· To follow department and organisation policies, procedures and guidelines but have the discretion to make own decisions within professional guidelines as may be beneficial to the patient.
· Wherever possible, make the best use of time and resources in order to maximise the benefit to both the patient and the organisation.
· To be responsible for monitoring stock levels in own service area and request new equipment as appropriate.
· To demonstrate empathy with clients, carers, families and colleagues ensuring that effective communication is achieved, particularly when barriers to understanding exist.
To deal effectively with complaints, ensuring that these are dealt with accordingly to the procedures and escalating when necessary
· Maintain cleanliness and sterility of equipment and work area, adhering to infection control protocols

Hours of work: 7.5
Working Pattern: One day a week (Day of the week to be confirmed)
Site: Jubilee Health Centre
Responsible to: Podiatry Clinical and Operational Manager
Accountable to: Director Sutton Health and Care, For new entrants into the NHS, your pay under the Agenda for Change or Medical & Dental Pay Bands, will normally be set at the minimum of the pay band as advertised.
