Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a full-time, Policy Advice and Support Officer to join our National Negotiation and Representation team. The successful candidate will support the work of our Resident Doctors committee in addition to supporting the line manager and senior policy adviser within the team. This is a fixed-term contract to mid-December 2025. Ensuring that the BMA negotiates on behalf of its members on pay and contractual matters is a critical function of the National Negotiations and Representation team, so too is ensuring that our national negotiating committees and internal structures work effectively and dynamically. This is a hybrid role and will involve a mix of working from our central London office (BMA House) and from home. In your new role, you will:

  • Arrange meetings and draft agendas, papers and minutes for review
  • Undertake research work with minimal guidance
  • Contribute to the development of guidance and other materials to support members
  • Undertake research and evaluation
  • Draft written reports on policy issues specific to the committee.

    Be able to grasp new concepts quickly and work flexibly
  • Have experience in providing project support
  • Have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Possess effective organisational skills
  • Have the practical aptitude to think quickly and respond to demands in a positive manner.
