Full Job Description

Now is a great time to join the Facilities team at GHC in this busy but rewarding Porter post. You will be responsible for:

  • Patient movement to appointments ensuring their dignity and safety is maintained at all times
  • Check, monitor gas pressures and contents and record, order medical gases according to Trust procedures, report any defects to Facilities Supervisor
  • Undertake driving duties, stores deliveries & equipment removals
  • Receive "goods in" and make deliveries - coordinating to ensure the best use of resources
  • Responsible for waste management on site, collection and storage of waste from locations
  • Timely transportation of post, parcels and medical records to agreed points
  • Assist with the removal of curtains as part of the curtain change programme
  • Regularly transport bagged dirty linen from all areas to the appropriate collection area
  • Clean equipment, e.g. wheelchairs, trolleys - (not an exhaustive list)
  • Regularly clean and tidy building entrances/grounds. Undertake gritting, removal of leaves & snow in priority areas
  • Remove unwanted furniture/bulky items from the building and dispose of appropriately using manual handling equipment where appropriate
  • Complete 'Waste Run Downs', liaising with Ward Sisters and departmental managers to identify unwanted/condemned furniture and plan working day to remove items in most time efficient way - some equipment may require dismantling
  • Be part of the lock down procedures process and respond to alarms and emergencies as required, Plans and organises own daily work plan against organisational/maintenance priorities, emergency, urgent and routine responses following standard operating procedures
  • Support new starters inductions by demonstrating/explain the role
  • Records information relating to job completion via a computer, expenses and any documentation required to ensure statuary compliance
  • Undertake relevant statutory and mandatory training,
  • To have shared accountability for achieving net zero carbon
