Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Porter/Catering Assistant to join our team in Scarborough, United Kingdom. This part-time position is available for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM during term time only. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our catering operations and maintaining a clean, efficient environment for our customers.

  • Assist in food preparation, including washing, peeling, and chopping ingredients
  • Serve meals and beverages to customers in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Operate basic kitchen equipment and maintain cleanliness of work areas
  • Transport food, supplies, and equipment between kitchen and service areas
  • Perform cleaning duties, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen surfaces
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down dining areas for events or daily service
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain smooth operations during busy periods
  • Respond promptly to customer requests and concerns

    Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, supportive attitude
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team
  • Time management skills and reliability
  • Previous experience in catering or food service preferred
  • Food safety certification preferred but not required
  • Flexibility to work weekends and during term time
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing needs of the organization
