Full Job Description

  • Using your expert Motor Fleet underwriting expertise; particularly in regard to case underwriting and shaping underwriting guides and rules.

  • Successfully delivering customer solutions and initiatives, including increased point-of-sale decisions to customers and advisers, within agreed parameters (time, quality, costs, profit margins).

  • Actively contributing ideas and working as part of the Zurich Municipal team to develop new or enhanced products, simplifying customer application journeys which are tailored to different customer segments

  • Using NPS or other methods or sources to gain insight from customers, distributors or other stakeholders to recommend improvements to our proposition and our delivery for our customers and partners

  • Supporting the ongoing development, production, appropriate communication of and maintenance of robust and effective underwriting management information (MI).

  • Supporting a small team of expert underwriters; coaching and aiding their development

  • Managing relationships with our partner and internal stakeholders

  • Providing technical underwriting expertise and guidance as needed to our trading underwriters and partner in support of our shared business plans.

  • Working closely and collaboratively with other members of the Zurich Municipal team and other areas within the Zurich business to achieve business goals and maximize customer satisfaction.

    High level of Motor Fleet underwriting experience - with knowledge and exposure of Hazardous Haulage an advantage.

  • Awareness of the UK Commercial Motor Insurance market and landscape, including understanding of the needs of different customer segments

  • Experience in shaping rating tools and system developments.

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills

  • Expertise in analysis of underwriting data to manage portfolio performance and make informed decisions on risk selection.

  • Familiarity of writing and running MI reports using Power BI, Qlik or other database tools preferable

  • Strong customer focus

  • Ability to work in a team but also self-driven

  • Capacity to cope with varying workloads and pressures

    We are looking for an experienced Motor Fleet Underwriter to join our Underwriting Team to lead our relationship and contribute to the ongoing success of our MGA partnership with PEN Underwriting and other key Zurich Municipal customers.

    Leading a small team of trading underwriters this is an influential position, working with PEN Underwriting and internal stakeholders to manage an established book, support profitable new business acquisition and develop new underwriting approaches and refining our underwriting systems, rules and rating tools.
